lonewolf Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 The top part is the same as the latest pics from the Blu Ray bonus disc of the Biker Scout thermal Detonator greeble. The round part is the same as MC part, so we are half right. It looks right, the two squarish shapes match well with the screen grabs we already have., I think the thermal detonator is on upside down on the Biker Scout display piece but it is this "found"part.
automaton Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I think you might have posted the wrong pic. I just see Admiral Ackbar's turkey neck.
lonewolf Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 Guys it is the wee top third part of his greeblie. I don't want to post the actual pic.
Dart Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 What part of the top greeb are we supposed to be looking at?
Witness Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 The greebles are one item we never had a decent shot of. I'll get some pics posted up on Friday if I can. If anyone wants to beat me to it, help yourself. I'll get a gallery up with any new photos.
lonewolf Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 The Biker Scout greeblie is also the same part as the top part of the Pesky Rebel Commando's lapel detail. Possibly Tamiya tank kit part?
lonewolf Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 No, the whole left half[as you look at it] of the Rebel soldier's greeblie is the part which is on the Biker Scout TD. Same part as the top third rectangle on Admiral Ackbar's chest greeblie. I think pics of the Blu Ray Biker Scout are needed,
bjsavage7 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 No, the whole left half[as you look at it] of the Rebel soldier's greeblie is the part which is on the Biker Scout TD. Same part as the top third rectangle on Admiral Ackbar's chest greeblie. I think pics of the Blu Ray Biker Scout are needed, Wow. The whole left half? Really? I thought it would be just the smaller piece. Thats a lot different than I thought it would look like. I agree, we really need to find some new pics of the Blu Ray Scout!
Griffin-X Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Very cool info John! I'm sure there will be lots 'o pics once it comes out this weekend.
Acrylikhan Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Probably a Tamiya Part for a naval ship. It is possible that could be the greeblie that goes on the detonator, painted black. It might be the right size too. I would say look at the extras portions of the disks, for un-retouched photographs, and documentaries. No sense freeze framing the films. So much has been altered from the original celluloid!!
MonCal Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Is there proof that this greeblie was in the movie? Keep in mind that people who restore the props in the archives sometimes don't get things correct. I believe it was Don Beis who used to run the archive building years ago and he mentioned on the rpf in regard to the landspeeder how he had to replace some of the missing greeblies, gear shifter, steering wheel, etc. The new greeblies aren't the same as the original. This has happened on a lot of the props over the years and could be the case for this costume. The suit that used to be on tour didn't have greeblies on the detonator. Maybe they fell off, who knows but someone could have grabbed this greeblie from somewhere in the archives and slapped it on there just for creating these 3D rotational features on the bluray. That's speculation of course but so is assuming it was in the film. I always felt the red rectangle on the top of the tank may have been used too so it should be an "acceptable" detail but it's not accepted in the lancer requirements. If this piece isn't proven to be in the film then it shouldn't be a lancer requirement either. I'm happy to change my way of thinking, I just want to see something tangible to back it up Thanks and happy holidays
4505Marcel Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I too would love to see a screen shot blown up via the blue ray release, instead of what we have just to nail this especially the orienattion of it.
Darth Voorhees Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Myself as well. Of course i just replaced my MC "squares" with this new greeblie to go Lancer..sure hope i dont have to change it back..i chewed up the suares pretty bad trying to remove them from my TD lol.
Dart Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 As far as the orientation, we've got two bits of proof how it's supposed to look like (cylinder on left, smooth top edge and indented lower edge). Now it's just a question of seeing a grab from the actual movie. I personally think we've got it right and I've already changed over to the new greeb. MC's got a point but we've also seen so many pieces that have been reused that it's not impossible that it was also used on the TB TD. Both of the above shots are also from ROTJ. Coincidence?
lonewolf Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 This greeblie seems to be the same size as some of the screen shots, it fits well on the Blu Ray thermal detonator and we know it was used on some other ROTJ costumes. There is a chance it is another archives make do and mend, I believe there is something strange about this , there may have been a couple of different types of greeb on the Biker Scouts, this part may have an opposite part, I don't know. This is the fun part of costuming, the investigating!
StudioCreations Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Now it's just a question of seeing a grab from the actual movie. Click to see larger 1080p size screencap...
Darth Voorhees Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 well...that sure looks like it to me!
4505Marcel Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Stunning thank you Jeff, well id say 100% we have the right part, also clearly shows the two rectangular parts sticking out the top (taking into accout this is a mirrored not flipped image), which clears up the orientation question for me. So that puts the cylinder part on the inside not the out side edge as we first thought. Thank goodness for that as I glued mine on that way, Cyberscout and myself were talking about this last night, said we thought it was this way, but now its all cleared up. Once again thanks Jeff for posting up.
lonewolf Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 I told you this last month Marcel, glad you agree now
